I hate you Kate Hudson

I hate you kate Hudson, for making me like you.

I thought you were incredible when you did Almost Famous.

Penny lane was the girl that I and most (?) of my friends wanted to be, should we ever find that elusive key to time-travel. She had awesome clothes, a cool-as-cucumber demeanor, great taste in music, backstage passes everywhere, she was mysterious and sexy, SHE HUNG OUT WITH ROCKSTARS and rooted Russell Hammond in an ice-room. There was nothing uncool about her, nothing I didn’t want to emulate.  Except maybe the ice-room. I don’t really like the cold.

I wasn’t the only one; Sophia owns a Penny Lane coat (see right); Sasha even hung around after a Ben Harper concert so she could skate around the empty floor on discarded cans and other bits of rubbish like Penny after a Stillwater gig.

You went from being totally unknown, to the star of the Coolest rock movie ever, with instant credibility. You had it all, and I loved you.

And then you did this.

And this.

And then this.

Not to mention this:

A movie just teeming with so much credibility, that they had to give you fake tits on the movie poster just to make people want to see it.

Maybe there’s hope on the horizon? let’s see IMDB….

In post-production we have My Best Friend’s Girl.
“Tank (Cook) faces the ultimate test of friendship when his best friend hires him to take his ex-girlfriend (Hudson) out on a lousy date in order to make her realize how great her former boyfriend is. “

Okaaay, let’s try another;

Bride Wars, currently filming.
“Two best friends become rivals when they schedule their respective weddings on the same day.”

hmmmm…

Last chance Kate.

Big Eyes in pre-production.
“A drama centered on the awakening of the painter Margaret Keane, her phenomenal success in the 1950s, and the subsequent legal difficulties she had with her husband, who claimed credit for her works in the 1960s”

This one doesn’t sound so bad. But now, after all you’ve done, I think I’m wary of this film because YOU ARE IN IT.

Goddamnit, I used to like you so much.
But you tricked me, Kate Hudson, and now I hate you.

EXTRA: 1st May 2009

For some reason there is an exceptionally large people looking ath this post in particular recently. Is there a new Kate Hudson movie out? Is it the Kate Hudson fan club on school holidays with nothing else to do? Is it Kate Hudson googling herself more frequently than normal??

Whatever it is, I would love you to comment. Or not. It’s up to you. But I have between 50 and 150 people a day reading this post and I don’t know if they like me or want to beat me to death with their precious Fools Gold DVDs…

  • i think perhaps we can blame her mother. Goldie didn’t exactly make AMAZING career choices… maybe she grew up with a warped idea of what a good film/role is to take?

you’re defending her? You still like her don’t you? In fact I think you even liked how to lose a guy in ten days! I wouldn’t be suprised if you stood in line to see fools gold first before anyone else! And you’re just frothing at the mouth in anticipation for Bride Wars aren’t you!? I knew it! I KNEW it! -hel

  • Ok to show how much i agree with you, let me tell you this.
Penny Lane is the definition of gorgeous. So much so that up until now my mind had completely blocked out the fact that its the same gal in those other… “movies”…
Now i know, and i can never look at Penny Lane in the same way again.
    gee, thanks.

sorry. But it’s been eating at me. I had to vent. But sorry. -hel

  • There is absolutely nothing wrong with “How to lose a guy in ten days”…

    hahahahahahahahahaha….. liar.

  • I just finished watching Almost Famous [again] and I have to say I pretty much agree.
I looked up Almost Famous for pictures and found this.
This is the best female acting role I have ever seen in my life and to go from that to Raising Helen?
    Such a waste.

  • “Almost Famous” was a great movie, and Kate was an absolute doll in it; your description of Kate’s Penny Lane was spot-on.

As for the remainder of her career train-wreck, I’ve avoided them like the plague, since from first blush those films seemed no more than the stupid, “romantic comedy” dreck they apparently were, and I’ve no time to waste on such.

I found yer post whilst searching for the original, widely-released movie poster; I’d never seen the image you used, and I wanted to take a, um, *closer* look…thanks!

  • I totally agree with you hel… i loved Penny Lane but she has been tarnished by no other than Kate Hudson herself. How can you create and ruin something single-handedly?

I hate kate for taking Penny away me…

  • I’m guessing the reason this is being read so much is because i was just searching almost famous on google images and this was one of the first pics.

  • I want that coat! Where can i get it? How much do u want for it?

  • i stole mine from my mum. your should raid your mothers closet. you’re sure to find one…

  • when i google ‘almost famous’ on images your blog is 4th hel… so the google theory is sound…. x

  • i am in love with almost famous and penny lane and every character in that movie. miss lady goodman is who i want to be for halloween. i. need. her. coat.

  • This is a long shot, but I NEED THAT COAT.
Can you ask Sasha where she got hers?
Or, what size is she, and how much does she want for it?!?! :D

  • ha ha… it’s mine not Sasha’s… unless you have one too Sash? Anyway I stole it from mum but it isn’t an original… it is actually a Jag coat bought in maybe 2000 or 2001… perhaps they’re still making them? x

  • scrolling up i noticed a few people want the coat… maybe i could put it on ebay and get out of debt?… nah… x
